This slide presentation outlines the City of Phoenix Water Services Department's (PWSD) 10 year vision, which is to standardize all aspects of process control and data monitoring throughout the organization by establishing a comprehensive set of standards that define best-in-class concepts, applications, tools, platform concepts, protocols, development environments, and interoperability. This set of standards will be applied to new facilities, functional enhancements, day-to-day process control development, and modernization of obsolete control systems. After a year long evaluation, Control Systems International (CSI) and the UserConfigurableOpenSystem (UCOS) technology were selected by the City of Phoenix over 22 other control system vendors to meet their goals. In January 2001, CSI was awarded a contract to upgrade three water treatment plants, two wastewater treatment plants, and two WRP.
