Description / Abstract: This test procedure provides for measurement of ribbon dimensional parameters. Some or all of these parameters may be important to users of optical fiber ribbon depending on the application. These parameters are discussed in Annex A. This procedure provides for comparison of a ribbon specimen to specified dimensional limits, and is intended for application toward all ribbon designs (e.g., edge-bonded, encapsulated, composite, etc.).

It is suggested that the ribbon dimensional parameters be derived either from the differences among the cladding edges of the fibers, or from the ribbon individual fiber centers for maximum precision.
